WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Vinyl 10

Posted over 2 years ago
Chrismas time has come and gone the many waves of emotion involved slowly recede from every angled view, and I am still standing, 2 feet in the clouds my head just above the water. Something has changed, brought a slight shift to the corner of my lips.. and that my friends, is this grand record player, that my heart breaker has bestowed on me. I bough a couple of records, my first ten (yeah, I know I'm late), and suddenly everytime I place the needle I am happy.. elated. So here is what I need.. I want to start a collection.. i want to spend hours sifting through vinyl looking for what I want, what I need, what I must have..I need a top 10. If you were just starting a vinyl collection what are the first 10 records you would buy.. or reccomend to someone to buy. Classic or new.. I want to compile a (large) list and get to searching by february.Love love love.

  3. Cole says I grew up listening to Bridge Over Trouble by Simon & Garfunkel. You can't really go wrong with that one! Also, find Planet Waves. But you know that because we just talked about it. :)

  4. Wozniak says I don't listen to vinyl, don't have a record player, but I've got 2 coming in the mail from Damon Albarn/Paul Simonon/Simon Tong/Tony Allen's singles for their new album "The Good, The Bad and The Queen." Included in the package is the CD single. There're B-sides on the records that aren't on the singles' CDs or the album itself, so I'm hoping to rip them to .mp3 somehow. Here's the link, though, if you want to spend about "8 English Pounds":http://www.recordstore.co.uk/home.jsp?wherefrom=productdetail.jsp?productPK=unittest-uuZW0VSx2yyfCdQBqN3IEb-13 The offer ends on the 21st, and after that, I'd expect them to be really hard to find. But the whole album is available on their MySpace (streaming) if you wanna pick up "the sound.":http://www.myspace.com/thegoodthebadandthequeen But if I were to get something classic, I'd recommend getting some Louis Armstrong/Ella Fitzgerald. It seems so appropos to a record player to get some music from back in the day when there were no 8-tracks or casettes. We (my family) used to listen to that stuff, Woody Guthrie, and Pete Seeger when I was a wee lad.
