A while back, on some sleepless night, while I passed the hours intent on finding some hidden gem of an album on the internet, I stumbled across the name "Micah P. Hinson". It first grabbed me solely b/c he hails from texas, and I (being a fellow texan) was curious to see what kind of music having an Abilene childhood would spawn. Shortly after hearing my first ever Hinson track "You Lost Sight on Me" from his 2005 Release "Micah P. Hinson & The Gospel of Progress", my love affair started.
Hinson's raspy, yet soothing vocal stylings tend to remind me a little of Spencer Krug (of wolf parade fame), though I find Hinson to be slightly less abrupt and a little more melodic.
He has just released a follow-up to his critically acclaimed The Baby and the Satellite EP, on Jade Tree Records. I'm just finally having a chance to listen, and must say that I am quite impressed. There's something about his songwriting that evokes so much emotion and memory with every note. You can stream the full album here:

I hope you like it as much as I do.. let me know what you think.

Micah is amazing. Plain and simple. I don't know why more people haven't heard of him.
