2009 seemed like a musically so-so year up till the final week. I don't know how I missed them but both Phoenix? and The xx blew me away! I've honestly never picked up a CD from either band. Phoenix? is especially exciting to me, because they have a back catalog. It seemed like most everything else that came along this year was quiet, subtle, and somber. Phoenix is a breath of fresh air.

My favorite Sean Hayes album
I first heard Balancing Act in Blue from Alabama Chicken on Pandora. I was completely struck by the beautiful melancholy of the song and was happy every time time it came on. I soon bought the album and found it to be as near perfect an album as I've come across. I've been listening to Sean Hayes for a few years now and own all of his albums and have gone to a few shows.
