I have seen three shows so far this summer and all three have been excellent.

June 21: Wilco at Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, MD.

July 13: Richard Buckner at Ram's Head Tavern in Annapolis, MD.

July 21: Old 97's at Artscape in Baltimore, MD.

I have just been thinking about how I would kill to hear "Barrier Reef" right now... and then I realized that I have my ipod in my bag and can hear it whenever I want. It's strange how my craving for certain songs can be as intense as the craving for food.

My boyfriend and I are trying to save money right now so I am not sure we'll make it to any shows for awhile, unfortunately. I spent $125 to have my Wilco poster framed, which was kind of a silly expenditure, in retrospect. But I suppose I will appreciate it in a year when we get our basement finished and I have a place to hang it. (Right next to the Dolly Parton pinball machine.)

Release the Stars by Rufus Wainwright
No More Shall We Part by Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Up On the Roof / Under the Boardwalk by The Drifters
Revenge! by Robbie Fulks
Recent Songs by Leonard Cohen
But I haven't really listened to any of them yet because I am so obsessed with Wilco. Sigh. I better listen to them really soon, before Easy Tiger comes out and my Ryan Adams obsession eats up the summer...

Artist: Album: Sky Blue Sky [5/15]

Right now, here is the order of my preference for the songs on Wilco's newest album, from most-loved to least-loved:

1. You Are My Face 2. What Light 3. Hate it Here 4. Impossible Germany 5. Please Be Patient with Me 6. Sky Blue Sky 7. Side with the Seeds 8. Either Way 9. On and On and On 10. Leave Me (Like You Found Me) 11. Walken 12. Shake It Off

wait, you DISLIKE _Shake It Off_?

Personally, I love it. But that's music, right??

I haven't formed a solid "be all that ends all" opinion of the album yet, but my top 5 at least for now would be:

1. Either Way 2. Hate It Here 3. What Light 4. Impossible Germany 5. Sky Blue Sky

I definitely don't hate "Shake It Off," but it's my least-favorite song on the album at the moment. I think it's because I first misheard the lyrics as, "when I'm wankin' off..." instead of, "when I'm awake enough," and now I can't get that out of my head. But I really enjoyed it on the DVD, so I bet I'll like it live, too. I generally like live versions of the rockin' songs more than the studio tracks.

oh my god heather, I just realized that I left Shake it off OFF of that list , when it should have been numero dos or numero tres. Oh well.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the liveness. Shake it off and Impossible Germany are gonna be sick. Nels will get to spread his wings a little more...
