I'm driving back to school tomorrow (Minneapolis to Chicago) and have started compiling music for the journey. Granted it's not an exceptionally long trip, and I haven't even started packing for the next 4 months of my life, but I'm gonna have the music I need to get me there. And, when I looked at my playlist, I recognized a few names from road-trips past. I guess there are just some artists that sound better when you crossing state boarders. So, I was wondering, Moggers, what's your favorite road-trip band/s/type of music?
I've been really into mash-ups lately, but don't know where to find more. Does anybody know a site where I could find more good examples? I know somebody posted about them a while back, I lost the link, though...

Hi Hawes I grabbed a few good ones from Mark Vidler at http://www.markvidler-gohomeproductions.co.uk/ Enjoy gritshake
Ha! That was the one I was gonna recommend. Google the radio station Indie 103.1 in Los Angeles. They post a lot of mashups and links. But for the best Mashup album of 2005 go here: http://waxy.org/archive/2004/09/23/kleptone.shtml Get all the tracks for A Night at the Hip Hopera. You will not be disappointed.
i just noticed that go home productions doesn't have mp3s up like they used to. but you can sign up to be on mailing list...maybe he distributes that way now. a couple christmas ones up there now gritshake
This is a question that my brother and I have spent hours trying to answer. Who, who's debuted in the last 5 years, will people still be listening to in 30-40 years? Dylan, The Stones, The Beatles all have huge listening bases nearly 45 years after their debuts. So, who do you think will stand the test of time?
My favorite answer is based completely on potential. The White Stripes and Jack White have the potential for endurance.

It's hard to pull me away from Howard Stern in my car. With that said, i recommend that you pop for Sirius for all their great music channels...you'll probably come away with some new favorite bands by the end of the trip. Unless, like me, you can't get enough of strippers riding the Sybian on Stern! Drive safe and good luck Vince
I like to listen to full albums usually for long car rides...... Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West The Secret Machines - Now Here is Nowhere to name a few...
Blur's Think Tank made a great background to the Canadian Rockies on a trip a couple of years ago.
