WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

I Wonder What She's Talking About????

Posted over 2 years ago
I have a thing for picking apart lyrics, finding hidden and double meanings, going back and seeing if songs had correlations with the actual life of the artist at the time. A lot of mainstream artsists nowadays seem to think that wearing your heart, or, for that matter, everything on your sleeve makes for good music. So lyrics get more and more explicit. Things are said bluntly and ever so clearly so there is no way for you to mistake the meaning. In other words, no reason for you to go deeper, listen to the song multiple times until you're intimately involved with it, find your own meaning and attach it to your life and your emotions.Everything on the radio now is all "I wanna fuck you" or "I'm so sad I wanna kill myself or you in as many ways as is humanly possible". Don't get me wrong. Artists under the radar are keeping the torch lit with beautiful metaphors and similes that make your ears do double- and triple-takes. I get that. But, damn I'd like to be able to hear that shit on the radio and get to work and debate it with friends. Is "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds" really about LSD? Was Prince really a closet conservative Christian in wickedly fashionable clothing (I know he's a Jehovah's Witness now, so get off my back)? Is this song really about "hot dogs"??????

  2. hawaiianpunch says You can find their albums at any record store. I think they're big enough that even Virgin record store should have it. "Baby" is the album where this song came from, but the band makes its name from covering old soul and r&b hits as rock songs.
