WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Vampire Weekend - Oxford Comma

Posted about 1 year ago
I usually run away from hype like a scared little girl from a pervy old man. But, I, thankfully didn't hear all the hype on Vampire Weekend until I got the album in my hands. All I have to say is believe the hype. These guys are so good it makes my ears bleed.
Thing is they're not deep, or prog, or challenging, or any of that. It's just straight ahead pop music made by a bunch of kooky NY boys. Love it. Just love it.
Maybe it's the water soaking into my brain, but why does this song remind me of the "Numa Numa" song? It's that "oo-OO" that gets me all the time.

  1. dermahrk says The second Vampire Weekend post in the last two days I've clicked on - with great results. Straight-ahead pop music? Not a problem for me. That lead singer reminds me a bit of Ray Davies - in looks not voice.

  5. Augusts1 says Love his voice & the jumps he makes into his falsetto, great flourishishes. Heard an ep they had released & really liked these guys. They remind me of someone too but just can't place it since they mix their influences so deftly. The hype is usually there for a reason, but I'm with you, I usually avoid hyped groups like the plague. I'm a sucker for well written & performed pop songs though.
