I go through the sites of local music clubs, radio stations, etc., sometimes to see if any titles or artists look of interest to me. I was on the Live105 Sound Check webpage the other night and found this band, Steel Train.
This was taken from their Wikipedia entry:"The band often polarizes opinions, mainly based around the fact that the style of rock they play is more "classic" (Jack often jokes the band was "30 years too late"), yet people see them as very much a part of the emo and pop-punk scene (mainly due to their Drive Thru Records connections). They are well noted for their impressive live shows and "jamming" ability."
They may be from New Jersey, but they sound more like a poppier Bright Eyes than Bruce Springsteen or Bon Jovi. The vibe feels more southern roots and folk than anything else.
I went to Mod Lang today to find their new record, "Trampoline", and had them order some for the store.
Here's them live performing "Alone On The Sea":
