Artist: Track: Sinking Man, Ain't No Time

This post is slightly delayed. Maybe almost 2 months delayed, whatever. And here I am, still in my pajamas at 4PM, thinking about how I'm in a Grace Potter mood today.

You know how sometimes there are those moments in your life when you look around you and know you're standing in the middle of something you'll never forget? I have those all the time. Maybe I'm lucky, maybe I get excited about things a little too easily. Which one of those caused me to send Grace Potter and the Nocturnals a message back in April, I'll never know. But I'm glad I did, because helping organize and run the street team for this band has been one of the best experiences I've ever had. Who the hell doesn't want to help their favorite band get the recognition they deserve?

This band has the ability to blow me away, give me chills, make a lousy day better, and best of all, they really took care of me at their show. Taking care of me means gigantic bear hugs when I stopped by the merch table to say hello, a trip backstage to FEED my best friend and I because we were starving and talking about Burger King, free posters, tickets, and you can't forget the pictures...

During the show, they played a new-ish song called Sinking Man. I've gone on archive.org and listened to the song at a few other shows, and I'm happy to say I like the one played at the UB show the most. I think it's one of my favorite songs now...it's got a great energy to it and Grace's voice absolutely flies over the top of it.

If you ever get the chance to go to a show, do NOT pass it up. You're pretty much guaranteed an amazing time, whether you're focused on the quality of the music or the energy of the crowd. Or maybe you're focused on Grace, because she's gorgeous. Or maybe if you're like me, you think Bryan is adorable and you like watching him dance while he plays bass. The point is that they have it all. Virtually everything you could want at a live show, you can find here.

The latest single, Ain't No Time, is awesome. It's a little bit softer sounding than a lot of what they do, the lyrics are political but not in-your-face. Of course I love everything they do, but I really recommend this song to anyone entering the GPTN world. Take a look at the video....

Let me hear some good things, show me your pictures from shows...I want to see them!

And to my Potterville Posse people--thanks guys for everything you're doing!

I have to agree with about Grace and the Nocturnals although I'm sure about the Bryan being adorable thing. Grace has a great voice and many of us beleive that Scott is quickly becoming one of the top rock guitarist. Vtshome

Hanna's got it right - this is a band that is such a much see live. The literally blow you away with their total sound. Grace has "The Voice" that makes you take notice, and Scott has the chops to keep you listening for more, Bryan is more than background with his delivery on bass and Matt and Animal drive the beat and make the complete package. Oh and Grace is more than just a voice - she pounds the keyboards, makes the B-3 soar and wails on the guitar as well. Gotta love a good multi-tasking female lead! Their mix of ballads, blues and driving rock and roll are a crowd pleaser. If you haven't heard them live yet - find a venue near you and go! They are real musicians musicians and are ALWAYS touring somewhere it seems.

Its rare to find real talent amongst today's artists, with so many being over produced pop one hit wonders. Grace Potter and the Nocturnals are the exception, over the past 2 years, I'd had the pleasure of seeing them grow as a band by leaps and bounds. Grace's voice is captivating as always, her guitar skills have increased dramatically (the B-3 is her "original soul"). Scott of course can tear it up on guitar, making every note sound better than the last. Brian, man not only is he a solid foundation in the baseline, but when they let him go (note Nothing but the Water), the man can make you groove. And Matt, rounding off the 4 on drums, makes u wanna get up, stomp ur feet, and clap your hands and have just a good old time! If you haven't checked out this band, you don't know what you're missing.
