you would think that working in a store that mainly deals in music, an audiophile such as myself would have no problem spending all my hard-earned cash. this is not always true! sometimes I just don't know what I feel like and therefore spend my money on other things (gasp!) such as rent and groceries and maybe a good pair of shoes. but really usually scarves and wallets. so anyway, I decided to combat this problem by going through my store alphabetically and buying one cd per week. not every cd, mind you, just the ones that I really want that I can get for $10 or less with my discount (retail price can not exceed $13.99). I started with the 'punk' section, which is not really punk at all but more emo/screamo/pop-punk/some hardcore/classic punk. basically classifcations are really difficult, ok? and we're not allowed to have an 'alternative' section.so I started this week with Anberlin's Blueprints For the Black Market. there is just something about this band that I cannot get enough of. I have said before that I think it's Stephen Christian's voice. it is so 80's that I can't contain myself. so much so, that if I had one wish for this band it would be that they do a smashing cover of "All I Need Is a Miracle" because I think he could sing it even better than Mike Rutherford. (don't get me wrong, I love me some Mechanics, but seriously!) so I'd actually read a lot of places that this album (their debut) was no where near as good as their sophomore, Never Take Friendship Personal. it's not true. these people are liars. or overly critical. or don't like 80s music enough. is that possible? and THEN! the Universal promo bag came and I got myself free copies of the new (+44) and Lady Sovereign. man, 3 cds for the price of one. I love my job.
