Wishing You The Bluest Skies

Ray Davies of The Kinks was a master songwriter. He wrote about places and people. He also wrote of hope and love."Better Things", a song from The Kinks' Give The People What They Want album, is a wonderful statement of perseverance. It begs the listener to cheer up and welcome what tomorrow will bring. It is one of the few songs that I can always look to during troubled times. This song ends an album that is filled with a rather woeful image of humanity. It completely lightens the mood and brings a smile to your face.Fountains Of Wayne covered the song on "This Is Where I Belong, The Songs Of Ray Davies", but this, the original Kinks version is superior. Listen and let it brighten your day. :-D

  1. dermahrk says Very interesting. My Kinks experience, and collection, pretty much draws the curtain after their early 60s singles and first few LPs. It is a great song, and I have two Fountains of Wayne versions, one of which is them performing it live on Letterman shortly after 9/11. I just bought the studio version last week off of iTunes. But, since I'm a huge FOW fan, I must say I prefer their version.
