And I'm not talking about John Paul Young, people. I am talking about Richard Swift. I have fallen so hard for his music that I may not listen to anything else for the next week solid.
Hey Shayna :) You were right all along, my friend. I was lucky enough to see him last month (he opened up for Wilco) and it was instant love ... I bought everything I could find the next day. He is amazing, and I really hope his work doesn't continue to go unnoticed. I have been falling all over myself since hearing Vol. 1.
I totally agree... he needs to be heard by more people. I'm glad you got to see him live. and with Wilco no less! I guess a sign that he's getting more attention. he's one of those artists that I feel incredibly fortunate to have seen many times. the first time I saw him was opening for Earlimart a few years ago! that was a pretty special show (as evidenced here)
David, place it near the top of your list, you won't be sorry. (one word, er — letter: M) :)
Shayna, once again, you're fortunate to live in the heart of it. I'm envious. And nice photos, as always ... sheesh, he has a few people on that stage, eh? GLS tomorrow - good, good ... they were here not too long ago but I was so swamped I couldn't get out to see the them. Bummer, I should have been there. Alas ... have a great time! Happy early birthday to you, doll.
I'm with you, but in the sense that I've got my own artists/albums that I'll be listening to for a week straight. I'm stuck on my own artists. Sorry to say I've never heard of this guy before...the songs you posted are pretty decent.
Mike:: Greetings! yep, I hear it now that you mention it. I recommend starting out with The Richard Swift Collection, Volume 1 – then move onto his latest, Dressed Up for the Letdown – which is where “Buildings of America” comes from. It’s some of the best stuff I’ve heard in a while …
Stefan:: What’s spinning in your neck o’ the woods?
Mike M:: You will love him. You have a great weekend too :)
bloodtea and Girlcrawl:: glad you like! It’s all good.
You know me well - I am loving this - yes - must be in the air - or it's the fumes from the leaves burning in the neigborhood - either way - I want more :)
Erin, I'm still stuck on listening to the Branded Women "Cities and Seas" album. I can't stop, I've got a problem - there must be a 12 step program for me somewhere!!!
there'd be at least 13 steps & I ain't down with gettin rid of this addiction - I'm not hurting nobody...
My latest hits have been: Iron & Wine, Matt Pond PA, & my old standby... Sanseverino... Editors rarely leave the player as well - though today - I am strictly Shuffle got 4 1/2 more hours to go... hope I make it !!!!
You think that's my first step of the 13 - you know they lead down, right ?

Purty nice, Erin. Yep. On the list. (A little Marc Bolan-ish tone on the vox, no? Hmmm...)

Totally unfamilliar with that, Stefan ... I'll look into it, but I'm worried - I'm having some serious addiction problems of my own already!
