Bubble Bubble Toil and Treble

Posted almost 5 years ago
*The Comas* are a band out of Chapel Hill, NC (a college town that has provided us with the likes of Ben Folds, Southern Culture on the Skids, Superchunk, and Kingsbury Manx), who have drawn me in with quite a seductive web of slow fuzz rockers and a mix of sometimes dreamy, sometimes trippy psych pop with their new album _Spells_. For the lucky few of you who will get to see them open up for The Jesus and Mary Chain in NYC tonight, I am profoundly envious (the latter being a band I've always regretted never having seen). As luck - or lack thereof - would have it, The Comas are playing in my town while I am in Chicago - but that won't stop me from sharing the love, or their tour schedule with you all. Here's a brand new video from the album, along with a link to a great "Daytrotter session":http://www.daytrotter.com/article/703/free-songs-the-comas (which is what I really wanted to post here, but I'll play by the rules) ... Take a listen to "Red Microphones," and grab the free mp3s while you're at it. You can also snag a copy of "Come My Sunshine" from their "myspace":http://www.myspace.com/thecomas page.
