WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Please come back

The last time Earlimart came through town, they played at one of my favorite local dive bars ... and I didn't know it until two days later. Instead of catching a band that is rumored to put on a great live show, I was at home doing bank statements that night, bored and pitifully unaware. Just a terrible feeling when you miss an artist you've been wanting to see for a long time. Ever since, I've been vigilant about checking for upcoming shows in my area in the hope I won't make the same mistake twice; but in the case of Earlimart, performances outside California have been few and far between while they have worked on new songs. This is why I am so happy to hear that a release date for their new album, _Mentor Tormentor_ was just announced for August 21. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that some live dates will ensue, and maybe I'll still get my chance _(Aaron Espinosa, are you listening?)_. Here's a sneak peek off the new album:

  1. shayna says and I don't think you'll be disappointed when they do finally come around! the new songs are really good live (as are the older ones, of course). they've had a string section playing with them the last few shows here, which sounds really great. but who knows if they'd bring the strings along on tour..

  2. mejeffb says I just saw an Earlimart date at the Earl here in Atlanta set for mid October, so it looks like they are headed east eventually. Haven't seen the entire tour list but I'm sure they won't leave you hanging, GMO!
