...also known as Joe Strummer (i.e., The Clash) ... who, unfortunately, exited the planet four years ago today. The Clash were a hugely influential band for me in my musically formative years. London Calling was, and still is, a phenomenal album, a classic ... I know my life would not be the same had I never been exposed to it. Just wanted to put it out in the mogos: Thanks, and RIP Joe!

    Rawkkiddoh says Damn, I knew I shouldnt have posted while I was job searching. I feel I should get my Clash card revoked for that one. In my defense, I was typing a cover letter to James Nelson at Lifetime Fitness in hopes of getting a job. Crap, probably called him James Jazz or something like that. I agree with you though, one of my all time favorites.

"London Calling" does have a flow, don't it? One thing some of you youngsters may not know: when "London Calling" first came out (on double vinyl, of course), The Clash saw to it that it listed at a DIRT CHEAP, special price. They wrangled a similar deal out of Columbia for the triple-disc "Sandinista!". Now there's an interesting collection. It showcases a myriad of styles, and compares favorably with the White Album. And it's so huge that the fact that there are 20 good songs on it (out of 36) was seen as a disappointment to some!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sandinista!
