Fun night. I felt quite at home amongst the Britpop survivors that had turned out for the evening. The Bluetones seemed as though they had been encased in carbonite for the last 10 years, and were good value: Slight Return, Solomon Bites The Worm, If... Good stuff, indeed.
There's this immense live version of What Goes On on the Peel Slowly and See boxset. It really is a riot, and when I first heard it I though "wow, the crowd are going to go wild at the end of this". But, lo and behold, at the end of the song you hear just the confused clapping of approximately three people. The Velvet Underground - talk about ahead of their time.
