WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

i've been waiting.....

Posted about 1 year ago

I've litterly waited so patiently for some more STEREOLAB.....and it is here.....a new album..and now I noticed that they will be about a four hour drive away, playing LIVE in a week....I am going to rush out early and take a mini-road trip and catch this show. It has been ten years since I've seen STEREOLAB live. In fact, when I saw them perform, Mary was still alive. She died in a bicycle accident in England. They took a few years without recording anything new, wondering if they could do it without Mary, until they realized that Mary would have wanted the band to continue on and make some amazing tunes, so Margarine Eclipse came about. Now that Chemical Chords has been released, the one person that I would have wanted to listen with me, is no longer here. It has been almost been a year since he left this earth.

I introduced him to Stereolab, and he fell in love instantly. First we heard dots and loops. We listened over and over and over. Then, he wanted more, so I dug out all my other cd's from my collection, cobra and phases, soundust, mars audiac quintet, just to name a few.....A month or so later, he found the latest one, Margarine Eclipse...and got me a copy...We listened and listened and never got enough....Margarine Melody, became our fave track.... We had made a pact to see them LIVE together, no matter what.....

As I watch the video for Neon beanbag, I will plan my trip to Austin, TX....if you have never seen Stereolab live, it is like nothing else. They truely have a full orchestra onstage, blowing your mind away....like nothing you could even imagine.....I will tell you about it as soon as I make it back.....

    Hi glammer,

long time not seen. I knew Stereolab so far only by name. Any recommendations regarding an album for beginners?

Bicycle accident in England ... ha! Even my supervisor disadvised me, to use my bike to much apart from our cycle and pedestrians way to university as they already had many accidents from cyclists.  Those morons really have no bike culture here - it's just in the very beginning -  so the car drivers are not used too much to cycles on the road  - and they don't really adapt their driving. They also hit me once nearly in a roundabout.

Anyway, I wish you a very pleasant concert.

Happy to see your handle showing up in my MOG Alerts again, V. Hope you're thriving in Tejas. And I too am excited abut a new Stereolab album. Considering the time of the season, I'll bet it's a treat rather than a trick. Can't wait for your report on the live show. BTW, I've been thinking about our pal Crash, too. It's been a year, and his absence still creates an ache. The music does ease it a bit, though. In other words, rock on!

misstee...Thank for the shoe compliment, i LOVE your clocks......

Hermes...I missed you, too. I have been super buzy, computer dying and such...lots of work to do here in Texas.  How is England?  Be careful as you see, the streets in london are crazy, how ever you travel...watchout!!  As for Stereolab for beginners, I reccomend listening to dots and loops, first.  Make sure to listen at least five times before making a judgement, then we can talk....LOL.. next, listen to Emperor Tomato ketchup....

Mike, Great hearing from you....I will be sure to tell you about my travel and the SHOW.  I should be in LA in mid November, will you??  I  I have been catching up w/ your blogs, though....Cheers!

Indie:  Glad to know my fave band has another follower...and YES, I have a shoe fettish, which means I tend to pick up the foot fetish-ites...LOL

I'll definitely be enjoying October in S.F. (Can't miss out on the Halloween festivities.) Don't know about November, but it's not out of the question. I'll let you know.
