Yes, moving away is good for realizing the things about home you do love and appreciate, definitely. I really missed the change of seasons, sense of humor (which is so specific, and lonely if people don't get your jokes! Humor is a fascinating thing, in fact) and music of home while I was away.
It's also so good to see the world through the eyes of others. Coming to your beautiful country was very eye-opening for me, very different from home! Not better not worse, just different.
