Franco-American Culture Clash

Posted about 1 year ago
Regardless of what any one else says, 2 Days In Paris (http://www.2daysinparisthefilm.com/)is the culture-clash story that might bring surprise of surprises. I think, this is a nice little film about difficult task to lead a cross-national relationship and about fact that thinking you know your parent is not the same as knowing her or his culture. Anyway this movie is not for all. Some might feel offensive regarding to worst aspects of US and European artistic classes. There is an enormous amount of politico-sexual art in the film which i as an Asian absolutely has no idea. Why the leading actors (one is American) treat a group of Americans on a "Da Vinci Code" tour like that. Whatever it is. The lasting message of this movie is although you might hate 80% of the things your lover does if you just cant live without them dont lose them. Song posted here is nothing related to the film. Just wanna post something Frenchy.

  1. HelenMarie says The film seems v. interesting. I'd heard of the title but hadn't heard any reviews, yet. Will check it out, thanks for the link. Cool "Frenchy" track too. : )

  2. t-bird says I like your thoughts on this one. Saw the film a couple of weeks ago in an ill-fated attempt to evoke some sort of emotion into my day (and what better to do this than watch a rom-com, a genre usually promising the viewer a mind numbing experience in the least). Have to say I didn’t hate it, it did make me think a bit about the extent you can both love someone and be completely f*cking irritated by practically everything about them (and the nationalities and generalisations are the big theme at issue here). It's a fine line aint it? Most of the films glory in my opinion is that it’s not so much that exhausted plot of “will they stay/get together? Will they not?" but "how the heck have these two actually worked for this long to begin with?"...Good stuff. Les Plaies Mobiles provides much of the soundtrack too.
