She's WAS A Rainbow...

Posted almost 6 years ago
My dad first played me the song She's A Rainbow when I was in middle school. We used to go on car rides to the flea market, where I'd buy basketball cards and he'd look for old books and movie memorabilia. It was a long car ride, so he used to make mix tapes of classic rock songs. I always felt that She's A Rainbow was my song -- very few people knew about it, and in my age group, no one but me knew about it. That made it mine.Years later, the song was used in a series of iMac commercials. I'm a big fan of Apple's, and at first I was like, "wow, Apple's so cool to be using that!" Then I went through a period of, "oh, no. That song's not mine anymore. It's a commercial now."Finally, as a (sort of) adult, I'm glad She's A Rainbow was used for those ads. It'll always be my song, but I'm more than happy to share.

  1. LadyC says I have to respond because that's a great story about having childhood memories from a song. Also I just had that moment tonight where a song was being playing during a very intense conversation that I will never forget...It really is special to experience that even if it is few and far between. Thanks for sharing and I'll go check out your song.
