When the lyrics ruin the song

You know what I am talking about: You hear a new track somewhere... anywhere. There are two different ways this happens:
In this first particular case, I was outside at First Thursday for a little, and there was a cool-sounding song playing while the band was setting up. I emailed myself the chorus lyrics and went about my buisness. So I came in to work today and googled the lyrics, and the song pops up. But after I read the lyrics, I thought, 'this song is kind of crap'. And now I won't be buying it on iTunes. That song was Traffic and Weather c/o Fountains of Wayne.
What do you think? Worthy? I still don't think so, even after hearing it a few times this morning. Sorry guys, not the best songwriting on this track.
The second case is when you hear a song and you manage to catch it near the beginning or the middle, when there are only instruments and no lyrics. You are totally rocking out and enjoying the song, and then the lyrics start to happen. It may be the words, but it might also be the singer's voice. One or both of them turn you off and you silently mourn for what COULD have been.
I have a ton of songs that this has happened with, but can't recall any right now. I'm open to hear (read) your examples or thoughts on this topic.
