Videos
So, i am doing this because I had this topic on my mind while reading a comment on my last post. Videos for music videos are very important. They can make a song go from very good to very annoying if the video sucks. For instance, I love the Cath video from Death Cab for Cutie because it really does the song justice. Not only do I love it because Ben Gibbard's in it but it carries the same mood from the song and does a good job portraying it. On the flipside, I used to love the new Coldplay song Viva la Vida. That is, until I saw the video. It was a standard issue coldplay video-random shots of the band but way more close ups of chris martin doing weird poses. I was kind of disappointed because the song has so much potential for a cool video. I just wish they would step outside the box and be a little more creative.

Glad you liked the video...It does the song justice.
Hmmm, It gets rather complicated with music videos... On the one hand, indeed, a bad video can really spoil the experience of a song. But, sometimes, you get the case where you THINK the video is good, when, really, what you like is the song, the video simply stays out of the way.
So it is actually a very tough medium for audio-visual artists - how do you get noticed without getting in the way?
