R.E.M. Disowns "Around the Sun"?

R.E.M. is in the midst of a full court "press" for "Accelerate" which is cool. I have all their records.

I do find it interesting that Michael and Peter continue to trash "Around the Sun" in Spin, on the MOG interview, and elsewhere.

I like parts of it and especially this song. Am I alone?

I do like Around The Sun, in places. But I'm never sure if I like it on its own or because of the enormous cache of goodwill they've built here in the crypt.
