WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Woody Guthrie Gets the Wilco/Billy Bragg Treatment from Jonatha Brooke

Posted about 1 year ago

This is an outstanding song off the new Jonatha Brooke album -- The Works. She wrote the music with Woody lyrics.

She's backed by Steve Gadd on drums, Joe Sample on keyboards, Christian McBride on bass with guests Derek Trucks, Glen Phillips, Eric Bazilian and Keb' Mo'.

You can debate the originality of the idea, but not the quality of this and a few of the other tracks.

Oh Jonatha...I bought all your CDs and DVDs, I've seen you live, I get e-mails from your website since I'm on your mailing list...and I have to hear about your new album from a STRANGER (ok, not that strange).

Yeah, this is definately under the radar -- also the new Todd Rundgren album is pretty hard to find unless you want to buy the CD online.

I hope you can make it -- I've missed her when she has been in town.   If you can go, post back -- I'd like to hear how it was.
