Paul Westerberg's 49:00 Pulled from Amazon! New 5:05 Single

Posted 11 months ago

Paul Westerberg's 49:00, a 43-minute one track album of stripped down rockers, disappeared from the Amazon mp3 charts, and Amazon itself this week. Last week, 49:00 was at the top of the site's mp3 album chart.

Speculation on a Paul Westerberg fan web site (paulwesterberg.net) is that the release ran into copyright problems with a medley of covers near the end of the album. The covers included snippets of Steppenwolf's Born to be Wild and the Partidge Family's I Woke Up in Love this Morning and a few others.

The sneak-attack release got rave reviews everywhere -- from UK's Guardian to Crawdaddy. It only cost 49 cents. Westerberg has another new song -- 5:05 available only from a music site call Tunecore. It's a jangle pop number that I'll try to post later today. (http://studio.tunecore.com/store/product/47)

Thanks to the magic of MOG -- you can stream a couple of tracks from the now unavailabe49:00 release here:
