Overlooked Albums of the 2000s: 2006 Rhett Miller -- The Believer

While Owl City rules the chart with his song Fireflies -- this is my favorite song by that name. Great duet with Rachel Yamagata off Rhett's wonderful album The Believer, released in 2006.

This song is great (and the album was incredibly overlooked).
I also like Saves the Day "Firefly"
"To me you are the light from a light bulb that breaks sometimes
and the tender warmth inside is released into my life
and it smothers me in flames that lick and scorch my face.
As the smoke reaches the sky know I'm burning tonight.
Know I'm burning tonight."
Slightly cliche but authentic and sweet.
I love Rhett Miller & Old 97s! I think all of their albums are overlooked. Rhett's album that came out this year is also a pop gem as is his 2002 "The Instigator." Saw Rhett & Old 97s play together this summer. Great show!
Thanks for reminding me of these albums.
I can't believe it's time to look back on a decade of music.
:j
p.s. I don't think Owl City could sound more like Postal Service if they tried.
Rhett rules!
I just saw Rhett Miller play live recently at Webster Hall in NYC (with Nicole Atkins as support - what a great combination!) - on September 19th.
Great show!
