New Steve Winwood "Dirty City"

Posted about 1 year ago
It's back to the future with an exciting new song from Steve Winwood featuring Eric Clapton. Just got this note from the Steve Winwood fan club that you can preview his new song "Dirty City" and "sneak peek" the video on his Web site. http://www.stevewinwood.com/In true Winwood-Clapton fashion it comes in at almost eight minutes -- just like the old days. Heavy, man.The video sneak peek doesn't run that long.I plan to be at the Petty and Winwood concert this summer in the DC area this summer. Peace baby.

  1. runobodyii says I think I've yet to forgive Steve Winwood that "Higher Love" song which was an unremitting chalk-squeak to my nerves. This song almost redeems him, but when they start riffing on "higher ground" it's too close for comfort and I am traumatized all over again.

  2. funoka says The song I couldn't take was "Roll With It." For some reason radio programmers seemed to play Steve twice an hour in the mid-to-late 80s -- but it was a very lucrative time for him I am sure. Probably helped him buy the big spread pictured in the video where he and his dogs are roaming around the countryside like Robert Plant. I love it when English rock stars show off their cribs. That said, he is a rock icon and this is good stuff. His last (2003) record is worth a spin . . . it's got more long form rock jams on it. Not like the mid-80s stuff at all. His first solo outing (1977) is worth digging around for too. Full disclosure: I did like "Arc of Diver."

  5. dermahrk says Sounds great to me. Nice to hear a guitar-based track after decades of synthesizers. I may have to check this out - and his '03 release.
