I spent Twelfth-Night last year hunkered down with my friend Heather at Vaughn's, deep in my Bywater neighborhood at the corner of Dauphine and Lesseps. Long-famous for it's hallowed Thursday-night throw-down with Kermit Ruffins (BBQ grill, pick-up truck and blunts for all to go around), the Twelfth-Night scene was typical New Orleans, with guys in tuxedos and full formal-wear belly-up to the bar next to Y'ats from around the way in T-shirts and baseball caps and plenty of folks in full costume. Kermit was in session that night, and this track is from his 2007 Basin St. Records release appropriately-titled Live at Vaughn's.
