I spent Twelfth-Night last year hunkered down with my friend Heather at Vaughn's, deep in my Bywater neighborhood at the corner of Dauphine and Lesseps. Sunday was Twelfth-Night, traditionally the kick-off to Carnival season down in New Orleans. And actually, with Fat Tuesday falling early this year (February 5th), Carnival balls held by some of the krewes have been happening for close to a month by now. Since I was derelict in my duty last night, I'll put up a double-shot today to kick off things heading towards Mardi Gras.One could do worse...
