Artists You Should Know About

Last night, bored like always... I created a mix. not too bad in my opinion -

1. Big Brat - Phantom Planet Awesome song.

2. Misery Business - Paramore Say what you want, I enjoy Paramore as a band! This is their best one yet.

3. Australia - The Shins Something to groove to.

4. Headlock - Imogen Heap Another song that I possibly be ashamed to love. Imogen Heap always puts out great songs.

5. House Of Cards - Madina Lake Overly publicized on MTV? Hell yeah. But... catchy song nonetheless

6. Weapons Wired - The Higher I saw these guys in concert a month ago. Even though they're quite pop, they are good musicians

7. Makes Me Wonder - Maroon 5 Maroon 5 fucking rules... 'nuff said

8. Memphis - Rancid Doesn't fit the mix so far, except maybe Phantom Planet. I don't care. It's my mix, deal with it.

9. What I've Done - Linkin Park No Mike Shinoda rap? I am disappointed LP, why do I still love you?

10. Stolen - Dashboard Confessional At this point, I'm starting to think that this mix is going to make me look effeminate... I swear I'm not.

11. If The Brakeman Turns My Way - Bright Eyes I've only recently gotten into Bright Eyes. I feel like my life is more complete.

12. Flathead - The Fratellis This song makes me think of that new movie coming out... Hot Fuzz. Yeah, nothing to do with the mix whatsoever.

13. I Will Never Write An Obligatory Song About Being On The Road And Missing Someone - Say Anything Say Anything is a hilarious band and show... and they write fucking awesome music!

14. Brianstorm - Arctic Monkeys The Arctic Monkeys are one of the most original and best bands out there. I'm so excited for their new album!

15. Say This Sooner - The Almost The Almost just beat Underoath down for the better band. Sorry Spencer, but Aaron Gillespie doesn't need you anymore.

16. Under Pressure - My Chemical Romance & The Used I hate it that some people don't know that Queen & Bowie sang this song before this cover. Pure ignorance... but I love MCR and The Used, so I'll have to deal with it.

17. March Into The Sea - Modest Mouse Pure manic singing from Brock, and I prefer this song to Float On.

18. Idlewild Blues - Outkast It's not rap, and Andre 3000 is the better half of Outkast.

19. Chasing Cars - Snow Patrol I hated this band at first... damn you catchy songs!!!!!

20. Grace Kelly - Mika He sounds EXACTLY like Freddie Mercury... The song's worth it just for that!

Nice mix, modern, eclectic...you don't need to defend your sexuality...if our music tastes defined how masculine or feminine we were, I'm not sure where we'd all end up!

Let me start off by stating that I am an emo music fan. Many may not appreciate the emo/screamo/whatever-they're-calling-it-now genre, but the emotion fervent in the music is far too compelling for it to be ignored.

That being said, I've been listening to The Black Parade by My Chemical Romance almost continuously for two months now... and it continues to amaze me. The musical depth to the album outweighs and previous MCR album, and any emo album for that matter. My Chem has transcended the emo genre with this masterpiece. Drawing from such eclectic sources as Queen, Cheap Trick, System of a Down and Iron Maiden... they put together an album that might possibly be the best I've ever heard.

From the barren emotion laden throughtout "Cancer," to the brash flare of "This Is How I Disappear" and "House of Wolves," MCR has created a masterpiece. I must say that my favorite song on the album is "The Sharpest Lives," where Way and the rest of the band definitely are the disciples - and perhaps the equals? - of Queen.

Good on you for finding a depth in this bands music that others, myself included, just don't see. I would be aware of you age in regards to this, "breadth of emotion" you have unearthed though. When I was in my early twenties I thought that Korn was the most emotionally honest and revealing band that I had ever heard because they just put it out there. After a while I realized that, as the troubles of my misspent youth began to fade into the background static of my life, the, "breadth of emotion" I thought those guys possessed had quickly become a contrived mess of cliches and a lot of unfocused, "I hate my father" rhetoric. After a while they had run out their creative bag of tricks and were quickly becoming a running joke of five rich guys in their thirties trying to write emotionally relevant music for teenagers. After a few years I began to realize that they were never really that good to begin with, but they gave me an outlet and that was what was important.

Then I started listening to jazz and Johnny Cash andJeff Buckley and I discovered I never knew what I was talking about in the first place. ;)

Ok, fair enough Violent Grey... my age might certainly weigh into my taste. Though until the time when I "come to my senses" and get better taste. I do appreciate your input and am always looking to broaden my musical horizons. Thank you.

Hey violent gray just cuz ur young doesnt mean the music you listen to sucks. And im young id never listen to Korn, I just cant stand the death metal screemio stuff. My chem romance is not a shitty emo death metal band like Korn is, got it? Please dont label them like that.

Sl ftblmessiah you like Maroon 5? Sierra

On Friday, I'm off to see +44 and The Matches! I'm so excited, Mark Hoppus is a genius...and underappreciated for that matter.
