Reading brendanhalpin post about being stuck with commercial radio and hearing Lulu's "To Sir with Love" reminded me of a somewhat similar circumstance.
On a recent road trip, I too was stuck with sucky commercial radio, as the cassette adapter for my iPod got jammed in the tape deck and now won't play. Flipping through the stations I came across Hall & Oates "Kiss on My List" and thought "Hooray!" only to discover, as the song came to a close, that I had landed on the local oldies station.
Yes, moggers. The OLDIES station.
I was heartbroken.
Yeah, okay, so the song is over twenty years old, but to me Oldies conjures up sounds of the fifties, doo-wop and early rock-n-roll, not Hall & Oates.
Dear nameless band,
Thank you so much for taking the stage, playing your entire set, and never once announcing your name, or explaining who you are and what you were doing there. What an innovative and creative way to make sure we, the audience, never buys your album!
Sincerely, Andrea
P.S. I have since discovered that you are Thunder Kids, but only after going to Lima Research Society.'s website to find out the name of the supporting bands.

at least there is a happy ending, due to your research savvy-ness!
First time I'd ever seen Uncle Monsterface, I had no idea what to think. They were playing with Harry and the Potters on the March 2006 Potterface tour, and I went with several of my HP-group-mates.
Although I've considered UMF my favorite band since that first show (and I've seen them seven times, total) it took a while for me to really appreciate their song "Pets". Originally I thought it the weakest song on their debut album Letter Green (I Love You) but now...
Now after hearing it over and over, and seeing it live many many times, it's become one of my favorites. Dan Brennan's guitar really rocks on this track! It's such a subtle rockingness that I missed it the first time around.
Below is a fan-made video for "Pets" by Shae, an awesome Delores Umbridge cosplayer and fellow UMF super fan. Yay!

Welcome to the old folks club..I cringe when anything from the 80's is called classic..they just happened, didn't they?
