I hear the lovely Julieta Venegas started her solo career as a scrappy "alt-rockera." Then she did Sí:

I'm not sure who introduced me to Julieta, but they seemed to prefer her bubblier, sparklier manifestation. I haven't checked out her earlier albums Aquí or Bueninvento yet, but I imagine they might turn me off, now that I've been exposed to Jubilant Julieta.
This woman plays the ACCORDION, for chrissakes. That's about as hott as the hammer dulcimer.
I'm posting Lento because it's the JV song you have to hear if you're unfamiliar. But it only scratches the surface of the very listenable Sí.
