Random Thought on the Stupidity of Others...

Posted over 5 years ago
So I have heard rumors that employers apparently check potential employee's facebook accounts to see what the potential person's REAL hobbies are. Such as, drinking and dressing slutty whilst taking stupid pictures. What is HILARIOUS about all of this though is that people (mostly girls) will not get the jobs as kindergarten teachers that they had originally wanted because they spent too many hours in college partying and posting it on the interweb. Now, I do not shake my finger at the party scene, do what one wants, but if you do, don't post it on the internet because: 1) you could loose a potential job for past stupidity and 2) no one really cares how drunk you were that night.

  2. BrianJay says I don't think that I would hire or not hire anyone based on their hobbies - unless it was something illegal or disgusting. If I have someone that parties outside of work but busts their ass for me in office and does a great job - I could care less. I think that it is foolish for an employer to not hire a girl because she likes to get crazy after work - actually, I would say that if I hired a drunk party girl, we're having 3 office parties for the holidays this year instead of the usual 1. Wooo-hoooo!

  5. lemontwist says Exactly. I never felt bad for kids who got in trouble for posting pictures of their juvenile behavior online. Granted, I do partake in juvenile behavior at times, I just don't take pictures and wouldn't post them online. (And I have the benefit if being old enough to drink legally in the US.) 'Nuff said. (By the way, one of my biggest fears is that I'll accidentally stumble upon pictures of my little brother partaking in said juvenile activities. Something that a big sister never wants to see or know about.)
