Artists You Should Know About

Posts

So, one of my favorite bands over the past year has been Eagles of Death Metal. I've seen 'em 3 times this year and had a blast at each one. If you haven't heard of EoDM, they're one of the grooviest, boodie shakinest rock acts out there right now. Not to mention, they're a really nice, approachable group of guys who are all about having a good time and making people happy. In the last few years they have toured on their own, as well as opening for the likes of The Foo Fighters, Joan Jett, Peaches and The Strokes. They were slated to be the opening act for "G-N-R" on the tour that started just 2 weeks ago, but were apparantly "fired" by Axl Rose the FIRST night on tour. Here's the story:

Was Axl Rose ever the sharpest tack? Not so sure.

I have been waiting on his solo album for way too long, just about every year I hear something saying it will be released within the next 6 months. You would think there has been enough political stuff going on to piss him off for at least 2 albums. The song he did with DJ Shadow was awesome, I'm waiting for a whole album of that shit. "de la Rocha is also quietly planning something more profound: the fusion of son jarocho and his unique brand of rapid-fire spoken-word into one of the most stunning musical creations since Dylan went electric" - all I can say is, hell yes.

I kind of like the fact that he has made a conscious effort to stay low profile. It sounds like there were/are numerous occasions when he could have grabbed the limelight but instead faded into the backdrop. Shows he's not an ego monger, which is a fresh concept these days!
