I've always heard of Canadian brothers electronic duo Legion of Green Men but I never got an album. I picked up their latest mini-album Baqontraq and have been listening to it here and there for the last couple of months. It came out in 2007. The album seems to center around "baq". Song titles like "Kiqbaq", "Dubbaq", "Rollbaq"... This albums's got "baq". I wonder if it stand for the backbeat. Most of the songs seem to come from the same sound set. It's like it's their own remix album. I was annoyed at first but then I dug it. The music is a fun combo of electro and dub music. Very spatial and atmospheric. Lot's of reverb on sounds here and there. This inital taste of these guys make me want more. There is one non-baq track at the end called "Tuggathanug" and it fits pretty well. The album was released limited to 777 copies. If you got it on Emusic like I did then you don't get the secret track. You have to rewind from track 1 to hear it on the cd. These are definitely green men and they are legion! Collect them all.

Wow, that's a fistula spume post how I love it. Never heart this style before. Reminds me a bit of Dub-step, but most Dub-step, that I heart bores me, this here doesn't. Top notch. And you're sure writing faster than I'm reading ... hell, master of the keyboard.

Hermes I find Dub-step boring at times too. Some is good though. I do type rather quickly. I consecutively the fastest in my typing classes at school.
Spike that's a pretty cool song Spike. I can see the connection. I don't have that album but I did download the Nobukazu Takemura remix of "Proverb" as I'm a big fan of him. Sounds like I might want to get the rest of the album.

I thought the remixes of Reich were unnecessary, and that Reich is better by himself. Your ears seem like they could notice cool stuff here that I can't.

I'm a fan of remixes when they're done right. For sure Reich needs no help being awesome but if someone can take a track and manipulate it and make it their own in an interesting way then I like that. I get bored with remixes that make you wonder why they bothered messing with it in the first place if there's nothing unique being put forth. There's a lot of those. I have a Bill Laswell "Oscillations" remix album that is pretty ho hum and aside from 3 people the rest are just boring looping a sound and throwing drums on top of it. I think also sometimes that it says something about the artist when a group of people wanna show a sort of tribute to an artist.

What you say makes sense. You're right about a tribute; it does say something. Reich's work inspires musicians in different fields, just as he's inspired by musicians in different fields.
