I love rain. I know Ann Peebles might argue with me on this fact but I love the rain. I like walking in it. I like getting caught in it. I love the sound of it. I checked my iTunes and I've got around 60 songs about the rain. More songs by Bob Dylan and Jimi Hendrix than any other artist. That might be because I have more songs by them in general. Who knows. It's been raining here in the Ozark Mountains since late March off and on, and it's been quite pleasant. The last 3 years have been verging on drought. Last year was the worst. You could almost see all of the underwater city "Monte Ne":http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monte_Ne. Last time you could see that was in the early 70's. Got some 8mm of that from my dad. I love it that it has been raining so much. I do feel genuinely bad for those who aren't getting enough, if any right now what with all the climate changes. Not sure why but Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and Arkansas are blessed right now with our wet friend. Gardens are blooming all over the place and veggies are aplenty. Anyway I wanted to post some of my favorite rain songs out of the bunch. Plus one video. I don't know about you but A Clockwork Orange turned me on to lot of songs. Drink it up.

Sorry fistula, you left yourself open for this................
for the record nothing beats a thunderstorm in the summer, especially if you get to smell the rain before it hits.

Thank you Tybees.
Rawkkiddo just for that you goober this video is for you. And please all you Cali people don't post how when it rains there it pours.

You posted some very cool songs here. I guess I have to participate as well.
This track is from Cowboy Bebop. It has two versions. One has vocals by Steve Conte and the other has vocals by Mai Yamane. The Mai Yamane version is the one I'm posting here.

Here's another rain-oriented track, this time from Raekwon (Wu-Tang!):

I'd post "In The Rain" if I had it. Oh, it rained a little bit out where I am today too!

Cool videos and tracks. I especially liked the first and the third track. Will note them.
Never analysed the soundtrack on Clockwork Orange, though I like the movie.
I wanted to read that article on Monte Ne, but hell, that's an huge article. Sunken towns have something romantic.
Will do this on the weekend ;).

This post is like musical commentary for weather here in the UK. We had the driest April on record, and now we are having the wettest June on record, with a months worth of rain falling in a few days, resulting in massive floods and five deaths :(
Some of those songs actually helped to make it better though, thanks dude!!!

It rained hard all night here. And we really needed it. Weird. Thanks, I guess. Didn't you say you are of Indian heritage Fistula??

Woah this post has power. Maybe too much as I heard it’s really bad in Texas with floods right now.
Sterfish: Those were some good rain songs.
Soulrocket: Glad to oblige!
Hermes: It's a pretty long article for sure. It's a kind of weird story. Most of the city is gone but a lot of stone structures still remain.
TBF : Sorry too hear about your record rains. Glad you liked the tunes.
Scotfree: My post worked. I like that Jim Dawson track.
Ivylander: Oh no you didn’t! lol! I’ll let that one slide since you’re not in southern California. ;)

I'm content to spend the entire day on this fabulous page - wow! Love the songs and video fistula; The Real Tuesday Weld's 'I Love The Rain' song is spectacular, just a groovy lil' sonic gem, and Peeble's voice/version still gives me chills - love everything about that track. The Clientele - wonderful; love them. Enjoyed reading your post, and extremely well-done!! Merci.

I love the rain too. In S. Florida right now we have a sunshine break with a nice cooler rainy day. So nice. Nothing more fun than doing nothing on a rainy day. Relax, get a good book, listen to music, eat. Who can beat that? It's god's way of telling you to take a break. When I worked in Lawn Care, I felt the same way - "Hey C. take the day off!"

*I see all y'all videos & songs*... & raise you to a whole *NEW* level of play - into the *Chocolate Rain* y'all... oh yes - that's right... _*CHOCOLATE RAIN*_ ... Thank you *Tay Zonday*, THANK YOU SOO MUCH...
(fistula - I totally love the rain - we had massive thunderstorms last night *perfection* & I played my "rain" songs thanks to iPod - I need to count & see how many I have as well - either rain or storm - sure there are at least 60...)

*scot:* no doubt this is +practically unwatchable+ ... but com'on, CHOCOLATE RAIN... the kid explaining why he leans away from the mic so as not to hear him breathe... I nearly wet myself ;P

You're missing Joe Satriani's "I Like The Rain"... but I don't have it on this computer to attach. On the other hand, I can contribute this:
A few weeks ago one of my friends was leaving the office at the same time as me, and since it just started raining he offered me a ride home. I said "You're going to think I'm crazy, but I'm actually feeling like taking a walk in the rain...."

Oh. My. God. Lizzie! I can't watch Chocolate Rain at work. I'm gonna get fired from laughing too hard. It's licensed through Creative Commons. I'd say Creative Un-Common! How funny. I'm going to track the free mp3 of that down. I can't even look at the guy. He's too funny. Perfect rain addition.
Scotfree excellent Roxy Music video. Classic.
Daedae how could I forget such a classic song. I got it on CD and not on the computer so it didn't show up. Great video. Dancing in my cubicle.

Oh I missed Girlcrawl and Contrabandwidth up there.
Glad you liked the music Girlcrawl. Thank you for such a nice compliment.
Contrabandwidth that sounds Mi-T-Fine to me. I wish I was in Florida right now. It's nice here too though. Supposed to be another giant thunderstorm tonight. Can't wait.

Don't forget the patron saint of rainy urban nights, Mr. Tom Waits. Tom Waits describes a Rain Dog as city dogs that go out for a walk and get caught in the rain, only they are unable to return because the rain has washed away the scent they followed. I always found that poetic.
fistula spume says
Most excellent Contra.
Someone needs to post "The Rain Song" by Led Zepplin. I love that one. Working on a pretty sweet rain mix with this post.
fistula spume says
For certain. I don't want to seem mean about him so I'm going to hold my tongue before I say more about him. He's fantastically amazing and he has so much conviction. Hopefully he doesn't get used like savants before him.

Ah, rain. I love it except when I have to go out to smoke. I got caught on the road today in a 2 minute downpour. I keep the windows down, it smelled so good. :)
Here's another for you. Not an actual video, but the song I want is playing.

Darn, another great post I missed out on! Me, me! I love rain days too, and guess what? It's raining now...
That Monte Ne story is cool too! A pyramid eh?
You really just posted this to give Lizzie the chance to post that chocolate rain thing again, didn't ya? Haha! That man-voiced kid (or kid-faced man? I'm still confused...) is goin' places, I tell ya...
