MOG MOG

BECAUSE THE WEB MOSTLY SUCKS

Artist:
Album:
Track:
(340)

I seem to have a lot of this sort of thing. Movies seem to be the best place to pick up on this music. That or compilations. There are a zillion. I guess I'm posting songs that are pretty basic but for the uninitiated I hope you like it. Check out each of these artists if you haven't already. It's good stuff.

I got myself one of those generic "lounge" cds. They have a "lounge" mix for just about every type of music. The one I got was Sahara lounge. It's not Indian techno, but it's some sort of Indian hybrid and it pretty much kicks butt.

There are way too many of them but I've found if you pick one artist you like the most they probably have a lot more that is pretty sweet. I am big fan of the comp though as I can find more music much faster than trying to track an album down. Gonna look up Sahara lounge. Thanks Chucky.

I have to thank you in turn. You know, it never occurred to me to look up any specific artist on the cd - sometimes, I'm dense..haha.

I highly doubt you're dense chucky. You're good stuff!

Just played the first track while I was getting ready to go out, without really looking at the title, or the post title. Within the first line I was like, oy, that's Nitin Sawhney. Sure enough. Must do a detailed post on him some time, 'cos I don't think there's much in the artist lounge from memory. (just looked: your post is the first). He's The Man in my opinion. Philtre is amazing.

Liking the other two tracks too FS. Must dig out some asian grooves I've got on cd. Another excellent post.

I like asian breakbeats. And you're right, there are far too many lounge albums out there, that often overlap heavily. I suppose, the guys, who make the selection are paid for quantity not for quality. Must also post some of my classics. Nitin very often is a bit too soft for me. But nice as introduction anyway.

@Ciphermedia: Nitin is pretty good. I have two albums by him. I've got a couple of downbeat tracks by him that I really like.

@Hermes: I like asian breakbeats too. I try to find as much as I can. I know there is more out there but my range I think is limited. I do like Talvin Singh too. Some of his work is pretty laid back like Nitin's but more drum and bass.

Talvin Singh is exactally what I though about, too....sounds of the asian underground....I feel like i am on vacation when I listen. It takes you somewhere else......

Compilations are great, too, because I love the variety of artists and, really, i feel this is how I learn about new music....

It's how I discover a lot of artists. I love a great compilation. That asian underground was really great. I can remember when I first heard it. Ah memories.

You people need to hook it up. I lived in India for a year, but it was rural and so I heard lots of traditional song, but nothing of the modern synthesis. Great post. Hopefuly Hermes and Cipher will up the ante.

I love trad Indian as well Oatmeal. I'm really interested in contemporary too. They have expanded in so many ways since the Goa movement of '96. How cool that you lived there! Totally jealous.

Kind of ironic that when I initially clicked to listen to "Nadia" for the first time yesterday, I was helping an Indian student with her laptop.

That is a little ironic Moovyphreak.

Thanks tigand.
