The Ann Steel Album

Posted almost 5 years ago
I got two tracks off this album in 2004 (I think) off of the very awesome blog "N°1 in Belgium":http://nb1.be/. I am obsessed. I want the rest of the album. I know they rereleased it in some country. I will try to track it down at some point. All of his albums are very hard to find apparently. It's hard to find anything in english about them. "Roberto Cacciapaglia":http://www.robertocacciapaglia.com/english/ is an Italian electronic music composer. He's composed for film and movies and various other projects. Ann Steel from what I can tell is an American model from the 70's. Roberto composed and produced the album for Ann. She provides the vocals and lyrics (I think). You can read the lyrics at his site. "Click here":http://www.robertocacciapaglia.com/english/discografia.php then click on Ann Steel, then click on "visualizza testi" for lyrics. She sings a lot of cybernetics, love, science, philosophy, psychiatry, and various other things. I love that this came out in 1979 and she laments on "Measurable Joys", "Tell me now don't you think, punk's just out of style? Don't you feel it's as old as a medieval trunk..." I mean it was 79'! How fashionable do you have to be to be so tired of it by then. Oh well. Great two songs that I have. Must have more. I wish I could speak Italian. I could probably locate the rest. Check it out if you can. I'm posting the two tracks I have. This sort of thing is completely up my alley.

  2. mktackabery says hmm, didn't get into the first one so much, I liked "My Time" better, but this kind of staccato singing is not something I can listen to very often. I gets on my nerves after a while. I like the music though.

  3. fistula spume says My wife feels the same way. To me it's like how some people listen to Billy Joel. I love it. It combines the harsh beep boop of early electronica with some sort of too cool for school fashionable flair of pretension. I know it's not for all. Definitely not within my family's musical reach but it gives me hope that there is more than I can imagine in this world of music that we're confined to in the USA.

  4. anyway says It's eccentric and obsessive, a bit crazy. Yes, very interesting! I found a one last stock at Amazon Japan and I've ordered it. Thank you for your introductory review!

  5. fistula spume says Happy to be of service. Japan always has the best reissues that I would have to spend a fortune to obtain. I shall find a copy somewhere at some point. Glad you liked it. I love this sort of stuff.
