Well I seem to have missed the boat on this group but I wanted to plug the album any way in case you haven't heard it. This is some seriously lo-fi psychedelic pop with a very too cool for your indy school attitude. The music feels like a seriously hardcore bedroom project. The songs are all over the place. There are elements of Bee Gees, Elvis Costello, Beach Boys, and XTC. It's a really fun album. If you can't stand lo-fi productions regardless of sound or style then I don't recommend it for you. Ariel Pink sounds like he's trying to gear himself up to be some kind of pseudo music genius burnout but I don't really think that's something you strive for. I think it just happens. He's doing a pretty good job though based on this album. I look forward to listening to his back catalog. His "MySpace":www.myspace.com/arielpink has some cool videos and other stuff on it. I also recommend checking out his "website":www.arielpink.com/ for other fun stuff. I don't know what it is about this album but for some reason it reminds me of Ween's "God Ween Satan" album. Not for grossness. Maybe it's the sound quality. So that's it. I like it. Check it out. It's weird and fun.
