WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Now this is a heavy hit of some serious Reggae experimentation brought to you by The Bug. The Bug is Kevin Martin (aka Techno Animal). This has to be one of the hard hittinest sonic bong hits I've heard in a long time. This album pulls no punches whatsoever. It's like grime mixed with dancehall. It's distorted techstep mixed with dub mixed with some terrifying MC's from hell. I like it. The album was released on Richard D. James's Rephlex label. If you kind of like Reggae and your not into electronic music then I don't recommend it. I'm actually posting the quieter of the tracks from the album. It's my favorite but I like the rest as well. Think if Alec Empire or Kid 606 created a Regggae CD. This album pounds on your mind. I can only imagine how terrified some super pothead would be listening to this while in the throes of paranoia. Unless they're into hard stuff. No good vibes here. I don't know why but I like it. Great breaks and sounds. Plus those MC's sound like they're robot ghost Rastafari from the future to tell us what happened to da irt. Check it out. Just take some aspirin before hand.

  2. mktackabery says aw come on fs, we can handle the hard stuff. This is my first exposure to the bug, but those are some tough beats. I like it; "distorted techstep" is the perfecto description. I see a bunch on eMusic. did you check "Jah War?" Which do you guys recommend as the first one I get?

  3. Oatmeal says Nice track, very heavy. I have always had a difficult time getting used to British rappers, but this has a unique feel with the production. I have dabbled in The Bug but never felt compelled enough to buy a whole album. Perhaps now.

  4. fistula spume says Wow. I thought I lost this post. I posted and the screen went blank. What a relief. Nice to meet you Oatmeal and MonkeyKnifeFight. Mktackabery here's another song for you. I hope you like it. This is the first I've heard of Bug. I've heard his other aliases of Kevin Martin but not this one.

  5. BarrieSutcliffe says Just gotta give your props for posting about The Bug. It's absolutely kick-ass, as is most anything Kevin Martin does. Super heavy, balls-to-the-wall so to speak. Makes me want to listen to 'em again actually. You ever hear their track "Aktion Pak" featuring Warrior Queen? TOTAL ass destruction.

  14. fistula spume says I down with some turntabalism every now and then. Loved Entroducing when it came out. Also down with gabba house, drill and bass, glitch hop, acid funk, funky breaks, 2 step, or whatever other techno I can stuff in my ears. This stuff is off the hook. It's kuhrayzee.
