WE DO THE MASHED POTATO AND THE FUNKY CHICKEN

Twee

I just wanted to point out if you haven't been there you should check out the "Tweenet list":http://www.twee.net/bands/indexcomplete.html of Indiepop and all things Twee. It's a massive resource for me as this is one of my fave groupings of music. I've probably acquired a track or album by at least 10-20% of the artists on this list. From time to time I'll waste a week trying to find music off this list. It's not easy music to find but I haven't been disappointed yet by what I've found. I think my next big purchase is going to have to be "Look Blue Go Purple":http://www.twee.net/bands/lookbluegopu.html. So there you go. Tweenet. Use it. Wear it out.

  2. fistula spume says No laughter here. It literally means: affectedly or excessively dainty, delicate, cute or quaint. The music style is categorized by it's happiness and sing songiness. Here's the link to the All Music Guide's "description":http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=77:4517. One of my favorite groups of music. Belle & Sebastian gets counted in there besides being Chamber Pop. Some of my favorites are Bunny Grunt, Heavenly, Cub, Tiger Trap, and Beat Happening. There's a ton of this stuff. You've probably heard a lot of it but never knew it was categorized as such. It's anything but depressing music. Always makes me smile. It's almost too ridiculous to some people because it's the complete opposite of hardcore but it's right up my alley.

  7. Kate says I may be alone in this, but I freakin' hate the word "twee". It just sounds like a demeaning write-off when someone describes a record that way. I've also read some interviews with Belle & Sebastian where they mention how much they dislike being called twee. It is just a label, but for me there are certain words that get under my skin and that just happens to be one of them. That said, keep up the good work, 'cause i'm really enjoying your posts.
