WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Where'd You Learn To Kiss That Way?

This is a double cd compilation of The Field Mice that covers highlights the best music from their small collection of CD's and 10"'s released from 88' to 91'. They were one of the most popular groups from England's Sarah Records. I read that they could be considered the missing link between The Smiths and Belle and Sebastian. That should give you a good idea right there as to what they sound like. The group broke up and part of them formed Northern Picture Library. That band broke up and now Bob Wratten performs as Trembling Blue Stars which some of you might have heard before. Their songs are soft and sweet with a major swoon factor. They lament on love and love lost and other things sensitive. I think if you like The Marine Girls, Heavenly, Acid House Kings, The Orchids, or other such indypop you'll like this group. The band didn't like being called post-C86 or indypop and tried to distance themselves from those types of generalizations. The collection is wonderful. If your needing something to be quiet and somber with I recommend it. Their albums were recently re-released but I totally think if you want try them out you should get this. There's a lot of info on the group out there. The booklet that came with the disk collection has the most comprehensive history on them. 1. BrandNewSumthing says Great song! They remind me a bit of The Lucksmiths, who are also often compared to Belle & Sebastian. Thanks for posting!

  2. fistula spume says That's my favorite track. It does sound a bit Lucksmithsish. The rest of the album isn't entirely like that but it's in the same vain. Glad you liked it.
