This album came out in 2004 on Ghostly International. I'm really loving it. Solvent is Zimbabwe born Jason Amm. He currently resides in Toronto, Canada. I'm a big fan of a lot of electro and electroclash that has been coming out in the 2000's. This album is on a favorite list. Solvent has a love affair with old analog synths that creates a very warm sound that is very clean. It's more electro than clash and a lot of the tracks have a new wave feel to it. Although the synths are old the sound is very now. There are a few tracks with electronic voices on them which is always a plus for me. I think that's all I'm going to say about it. I think if your a fan of new electro your going to like this record. For more reviews I recommend checking out the Igloo link below. It pretty much says it all and then some. Right on. I bet my little avatar has been shining continuously on the "who is listening to Solvent?" page since I first logged in. All his songs make me instantly, sincerely happy-- the pop core is strong in this one!
bq. "You used to play my favourite songs
Those robot-disco marathons
Inspired me to buy my first machines..."
That's as pure as synth-pop gets, I think! Using machines to declare love for other machines. I swoon.
I'm also very partial to the older Solvent City album. It's more IDM, lots of clicks and glitches and fewer choruses, but still quite a floor-filler (at least in my living room). "A Panel of Experts" or "Built-In Microphone" = hot stuff.

Solvent is very cool. I like that it’s not all cold, harsh, dark, and in your face like his contemporaries. It’s some seriously fun stuff. I'm going to try to get his other albums. Thanks for letting me know how it sounds so I won't be disappointed if I'm looking for the same kind of thing.

As usual, you've posted something else I instantly fall in love with and made me quite a few bucks poorer. I love you and my wallet hates you.
But I mostly love you sam. ;-)

Thanks mktackabery. I do what I can. It's the circle of life. I lose money you lose money. What can you do? As long as Solvent is happy and appreciated.

I saw Solvent this past summer and it was a real eye opener. I normally get very bored by laptop artists in a live setting (Jason Forrest being the other exception) but he was having such a fun time on the stage it felt like he was compelling you to get up out of your seat and dance.

That sounds pretty cool. It must be hard to seem so excited. I think only Gary Numan and Kraftwerk are allowed to stand in one place and stare while performing. Solvent's music is definitely butt moving inspiration.
