The Night Is Still Young - 7:00pm Tokyo

Posted over 3 years ago

This was a mini 3" cd that came out in 1993. It was a 3" cd single snap pack that were very popular in Japan in the late 80's/early 90's. This song was released on the album Overdose in 1994 in Japan and on The Sound Of Music in 1995 in the US. It has really great club mix of the song and an instrumental of the original. Not much else to say about it. I like the song. I really love the packaging. I didn't break it apart because I like how it looks as it is. The left side of the picture the front of the package and the right side is the back. The inside is cool too. I wasn't ever really into singles but if they looked like this I might have bought more. I think I'm finally done with posting Pizzicato Five tracks for now. The moon is no longer full so I'm probably over whatever mental strangeness I was in this week.

I'm fine with your P5 flow. And the packaging is indeed pretty neat. I just bought a vinyl single of One Self and can't play it here because I still lack a stereo and a turntable :( ... .

what do you mean by mental strangeness? Isn't that healthy...?

As I listen to more of these tracks - all thanks to you, Fisty - I wonder whether they are the Japanese St. Etienne or whether St. Etienne are the English P5. Questions like this keep me awake at night. It's a sad commentary on my life.

Huuuh ... that sound indeed a bit depressive, Ivy. I thought a Latinamerican wife or girlfriend would be the best "brightener" around. Thinking about a mathematical problem in the night isn't better anyway. Waking up and having the answer on the other hand is priceless. Just that it doesn't happen very often .. . Cheer up!

It's just the way my mind works, Hermes. It's not a bad thing. I just wish I could be thinking about a cure for cancer or a surefire way to personal wealth instead of bands, that's all....

Glad to hear that. I usually sleep in with music without thinking at all. Maybe you should use your thinking of music for writing about it in a music magazine or so.

Hermes - You're going to have to get a new record player asap!  I have a player but I don't have a stereo to play it on.  I keep buying records even though I can't listen to them.  My wife doesn't like that so much.

IP - I hadn't felt so but maybe the move of the moon into Capricorn will clear up some insanity.

Ivy - I'd say Saint Etienne is the English P5.  I only say that because P5 is 5 years older than them.  I absolutely love St. Etienne as well.  They did a fantastic dub remix of P5's song Peace Music.

What an infectious pop confection! The lyrics are amusing - you can boil it down to the title of the song (which leads off teh chorus), I want to fall in love quickly, I want to fall in love with you, and observations on the flirting game. Don't feel you've burnt out on this. I'm digging it.
