Mitch Hedberg

Posted over 3 years ago

I absolutely love Mitch Hedberg. It's a shame that he had to die. He was 37 when he passed in 2005. Absolutely one of my favorite comedians. I just noticed today that there is a fan site where you can download a lot of his standup shows and interviews with him. Check it out http://hedburgh.com/media.shtml. There's also a random quote generator on it that's pretty fun.

"I got a business card cuz I wanna win some lunches... That's what my business card says, "Mitch Hedberg: Potential Lunch Winner." Give me a call, maybe we'll have lunch... if I'm lucky."

"They say the recipe for Sprite is lemon and lime. But I tried to make it at home, there's more to it than they act. "Want some more homemade Sprite?" "Not til you figure out what the fuck else is in it." "

He was brilliant.  The simplicity with his sort of stoner delivery.  Reminds me a lot of Steven Wright.

He was hilarious..."I don't have a girlfriend, but I know a girl who would be pissed off if she heard me say that." Wish he had stuck around...he's up there with Bill Hicks and Lenny Bruce...thanks for the funny.

He performed at the University of Chicago two weeks before he died. I didn't go because I thought I would see him when I was less busy. Oops.

I just posted a video of him about two weeks ago . . . one of my favorites too, and it makes me sad to think of what we've missed since his passing.  Thanks for the video and link.  Will definitely be checking it out.

"I order a club sandwich all the time.  I don't know how I get away with it; I'm not even a member!"

There are exceptions, but has anyone else noticed how often the funniest comedians die young?  Larry the Cable Guy will probably live to be 1000...

Mitch was awesome. Good point about the good ones always dying young. Sigh.

I loved Mitch in college (and still today).  I sadly remember listening to Stern when he broke the news of his friends alleged passing....I was stunned.  Mitch wasn't even that well known at the time, and it just felt like we were being pranked......

I don't think new Mog likes Internet Explorer.  I couldn't write comments at work but I can at home using Firefox.

Mitch was a really great comedian.  Definitely will be missed.  It's weird but I do remember where I was when I heard the news that he had died.  It was a total bummer.  Can't wait to hear the live shows on that fan site.

One of my favorite Hedberg quotes: "If thirteen's unlucky, then 12 or 14 are guilty by association".
