Delta 5

I picked up this collection of Delta 5 that was released in 2006 by Kill Rock Stars. They've released quite a few reissues of classic grrl rock. This one is most excellent. Delta 5 was a post-punk group from Leeds (same as Gang of Four) and they've got some pretty funky bass and righteous girl lyrics. The beats are pretty tight too. I like the attitude of the female vocalists. It's all frontin and telling it straight. Such a fun album. It collects their first three 7" records from Rough Trade, three John Peel BBC Radio Session tracks, four BBC Sessions with Richard Skinner, and three tracks live from Berkelely. They were only together from 1979 until 1981. There are a couple of 7"'s that aren't on this collection. They also had an album titled See The Whirl which was overly produced and not well received which led to the breakup of the band in '81. I think if you like disco-ish punk or grrrl rock in general you'll like this. They're sooper sweet.
