WHERE MUSIC LISTENS TO YOU

Chromophobia

Posted about 1 year ago
I'm thoroughly enjoying the album Chromophobia by Brazilian tech-house producer Gui Boratto. It's really clean and smooth electronic music. All Music Guide says he worked with Pato Banton, Steel Pulse, Desiree, Gal Costa, Garth Brooks, and Kaleidoscopio. If that doesn't round you out as a music maker I don't know what will. The fear of colors album came out last year on Germany's Kompakt label. Kompakt releases some good techno and this album is among it. Good stuff.

  4. Dzendvokh says I think this is a pretty strong album....he has put out a ton of twelves lately, popping up everywhere, an in demand producer/remixer... however he has a certain style that he does not deviate from and it can get a little old.... his remix for goldfrapp being an example of his lush sound going a bit over the top. It'll be interesting to see if he experiments a bit more with his sound on upcoming releases.

  5. indiepixie says ok Dzendvokh you are clearly more knowledgeable of him than I am. I need to check out the goldfrapp remix.

  9. fistula spume says No problem indiepixie. Liking the new pixture. Dzend I read about the 12"'s but hadn't heard any. I loved this record but I could see where repetition without innovation would come into play. I actually was pleased that with this album progressively brought in more non-electronic sounds but it didn't sound like he was straying. "Beautiful Life" was a breath of fresh air I thought. One reviewer I read said it could be the perfect epic ending to a Felix Da Housecat album. Glad I could turn some people on laura27, mollifire, and Sturgell. I feel bad though cause I didn't notice until it was too late that I broke the Mog guideline of posting more than 15mb. Used to not let me do that.

  12. scotfree says These are hot. Like Nick said, the consistent style/ repetition is a minor drawback - but that's why I make sure I'm doing something else when listening to this kind of stuff. Like mowing the yard. Cordless headphones are a hoot, eh? Hey, even though you broke the 15 mg rule (and are subsequently grounded), the whole track would seem to be there. Wonder if that rule is really real??

  13. fistula spume says It used to be real. Used to stop me all the time when I wasn't paying attention and I know others have commented on that in the past. Maybe Mog was being sweet on me yesterday. I like to listen to this stuff while doing chores as well. Or drawing. I like a good beat when I do some dishes too.

  14. Spike says I uploaded a fairly long track recently, and the uploading process slowed down quite a bit toward the end.

  15. fistula spume says It used to do that for me too. Scotfree said he was able to upload one yesterday as well that broke the restriction. Maybe someone accidentally flipped that button off.
