To say I love Negativland would be an understatement. They're in my top 5 favorites groups evar. One of the best live shows I've seen also. I wanted to drop some tracks from their album Free which came out in '93. When I'm feeling trapped and want to break free from stresses I sometimes get the song "Cityman" stuck in my head and it makes me feel better. Their brand of noise just makes me gleeful. This album also taught me that our national anthem was ripped off from an old drinking song. Doesn't it make you want to drink?

  4. AA Coppertop says I saw them live once too. Helter Stupid! Comedy and sonic mayhem - two great tastes that taste great together. Did they burn a bunch of toast onstage when you saw them? They go after all five senses.

  5. fistula spume says Charley - Holy cow I think you're right. I always assumed it was Mark Hosler cause it sounds a bit like his voice. AA Coppertop - It was a pschedelic blur. I remember that one of the guys was sick so they did a prerecorded thing of his head in a tv on a stand while the did an elaborate act around him. At the end they built this most insane progression of sounds and noises and music to scottish bagpipe music that had me feeling like my entire being was rising above the earth. Killer show. Lots o' larfs.

  9. garrick says Wow - this takes me back. Negativland was on heavy rotation on WZBC (Boston College radio) back in the good old days. Great station. Now I wanna dig up my old Wire records. Early 90's rule!

  12. fistula spume says Dzendvokh that's what I was thinking. It's like an EE Cummings comment. Sturgell they're still around even though this is from '93. garrick that's pretty cool. I wish they'd play them on my college station. Mosty emo music is in heavy rotation. earthman nutty is great. Contra it went quickly out of print because stores had to return their copies. I didn't buy a copy when it came out and I had the opportunity. I always kick myself over that. I did get the tracks later though. It's really funny. My brother and I actually heard Casey Kasem on his show when he went on the cussing tirade. That was so sweet. CodyB they're probably seen as what's wrong with us all. :)
