Weekend Wrap Up

Posted almost 4 years ago
Whew what a weekend. I listened to almost nothing but Tall Dwarfs and Magnetic Fields this weekend. I highly recommend picking up any album from either group. Fun stuff. My wife and I went to a fancy shmancy restaurant and got some take out. I noticed (but could barely hear) that they were playing all of these great funk and hip-hop tunes at the bar. It all was stuff that I recognized that had been sampled a thousand times by house and hip-hop artists. Then I heard this song that sounded so awesome. I couldn't figure out what they were saying but Rachel said it sounded like they were saying "Double Dutch Bus". Thank god that was the title of the song. I love Google. There is this part on the song that really got me. It's when some kid is speaking gibberish. Missy Elliot used it on "Work It" I have a DJ friend that used to have a ravey house record loaded with that sample. I love it. Been playing it over and over again since I got it. I love it when things work out like that. Discovery is fun. Hope you all bought your funky bus tickets!

  2. fistula spume says That or some random eastern downbeat music. I think someone that works there must have put it together. I just had a realization. I don't know why I didn't put it together but I pointed out to my wife that our towns biggest hip-hop dj was a waiter there. He must have made the cd they were playing. I wonder how much it would cost for a funky bus pass?

  3. contrabandwidth says I always loved that Missy song, never knew that was a sample though... I've been on plenty of funky buses, believe me, you don't want a pass (and the floors are mysteriously sticky too)...

  5. Cody B says Damn,I liked that tune...The pig latin breakdown is classic According to things I've heard, a funky bus pass can be purchased for: Nine Cans of Shaving Powder A Three Dollar Bill A Funky Dollar Bill I'm not really sure but here's Funky Driver On A Funky Bus by Charles Leonard ~6RxX4Ri7ww4.mp3~ perhaps this will shed some light.

  6. fistula spume says Yeah I can't tell if it's pig latin. It's one of those languages like gibberish or I-The-Guy that girls would lord over me in Junior High cause I couldn't understand and they wouldn't explain it to me. Their izzle language must be where Snoop lifted it from. I go to a local funky haberdashery to pick up my funky sundries and notions. Best shaving powder in town. That track you posted was sooper sweet Cody. Tanx!
