I'm not enjoying music I bought last month. So I thought I would post something I do enjoy that I listen to. This album is a collaboration with DJ Spooky and Scanner. Personally I find myself hard pressed to find Scanner in this album and can only see DJ Spooky coming across. For the most part this album sounds like more of the same illbient that DJ Spooky had produced in the mid-90's. For me the stand out track is "Uncanny". Love this song! It sounds very out of place on this album which is mostly illbient and experimental. "Uncanny" would have fit in nicely on the album "File Under Futurism" which came out the same year. It was a collaboration with DJ Spooky and Freight Elevator Quartet. Another thing to note is that Freight Elevator Quartet did supply cello on this album as well. Anyway this is a lot of words for one song. Hope you like it and maybe I'll get luckier when I buy some tunes next month.

Too many layers for me... The whole thing lacks a certain consistency, in my humble opinion. It's like they had 100 ideas per minute and laid them all down without making their mind about where it should be going... At least in the track you've posted.

It's the chaos that draws me in. I can be big on sensory overload sometimes. Plus it has such amazingly fast and densely layered cuts which I don't think many electronic musicians have the skills for. I also enjoy taking away the bouncy 808 bass which is so common in drum and bass an replacing it with a cello. Not revolutionary by any means but I think the effect sounds nice here.

It's all in the mix August.
Anna I haven't either really. He's put out so much since I last heard him it's like I don't even know him anymore. I knew what you meant. :)
